Emmi Sauls, VP Marketing Director, is February’s Employee Spotlight! Let’s get to know her.
Emmi at Work
Emmi Sauls embarked on her journey in the mortgage industry three years ago, transitioning from a prominent marketing role at a communications company to join LenderLogix, a mortgage technology startup in Buffalo, New York. Excited by the idea of contributing to a small team of visionary entrepreneurs, Emmi quickly immersed herself in the industry. She traveled across the country for conferences, networking with seasoned professionals, and knew this was the career path for her.
Emmi joined the NewFed team last May! Introduced to Jim Janczy at a conference, Emmi found alignment in their shared enthusiasm for football (Go Bills!) and NewFed’s ambitious growth trajectory. Celebrating her upcoming one-year anniversary, Emmi reflects on her decision to join NewFed as the highlight of 2023, sharing, “I love what I do, and the people I work with. Every day is something new, and I enjoy learning! Working to scale NewFed’s brand alongside my career is an exciting position to be in! I live for a challenge.”
Emmi thrives on the diversity and challenges inherent in her role as VP Marketing Director. Her days are a medley of creativity and strategic insight, including crafting compelling content for corporate platforms, collaborating with loan officers on custom campaigns, and developing strategies to grow NewFed’s digital presence and regional footprint.
When asked what keeps her motivated, she shared, “First, I’m motivated by the family I’m building. I’m getting married to my high school sweetheart this April, and everything I do is for our future. Second, I’m motivated by career growth. If there’s a next level for me to achieve, I will work that much harder to get there. Third, I’m motivated by my coworkers and boss, Jim. The opportunities I’ve been awarded and the feedback I’ve received in the last nine months have been amazing! My skill set continues to be challenged, and I’d like to think I’m a better person and professional for that already. And lastly, I’m motivated by all of the truly amazing women in my life. I couldn’t be more thankful for the sisters and mentors I’ve found throughout the years.”
Behind The Scenes
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Caring, passionate, headstrong
What’s your personal mantra/life motto, and where did it come from?
‘It always seems impossible until it’s done’ – Nelson Mandela. Everyone goes through life with their own levels of adversity. The key is to keep pushing until you’re on the other side. And then I think we’re each responsible for helping our neighbors get to the other side, too.
Hobbies? Talents? Aspirations?
Hobbies: I am truly a worker bee and do freelance work in the evenings. But when I’m not working, I’m likely binging Below Deck (or another reality series), crafting, boating on Lake Erie, traveling, or bebopping around Buffalo with my fiancé & friends. I’m a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, so you can catch me at every home game during football season.
Aspirations: I want to leave the world a better place than I found it, in every way I can. I recently shared a post on my personal social media that read: ‘I want to be a warm yellow light that pours over everyone I love.’ That summarizes my aspirations pretty well.
What’s the last book you read or podcast you listened to?
Book: Linchpin by Seth Godin
Podcast: Simon Sinek’s ‘A Bit of Optimism’
What did you want to be as a kid?
This changed so many times… Art teacher > English teacher > Interior designer > Elephant keeper > Graphic designer. I wound up graduating from Canisius College (Go Griffs!) with a dual degree in Digital Media Arts & Marketing.
What’s something we should know about you?
I care very deeply about every life that I touch. And I think that’s why I was so drawn to the mortgage industry from the beginning. I realized how impactful my generation can (and will) be for the future of homeownership and equal accessibility.
